August 2008

  • I put a bunch of tracks on a recording that Steve Tibbetts is working on. It was great to work with Steve again. After all these years it’s still fun and fresh every time. I don’t know what the plans are for the record so….. all you Tibbetts heads will have to wait and see what happens.

  • Marty Haugen and I have been working on another recording for the past year or so. This one is a collection of songs about earth keeping and stewardship. Both of us had some feeling that we should be focusing more of our creative energy toward conversation and realization on this important issue.  I’ve been able to contribute a little more as a writer on this one. It still seems a stretch to think of myself as a person who is writing liturgical music for people to sing.  Marty is teaching me so much about how to craft songs.

  • I finally started to record some of the drum pieces that I teach. This is primarily aimed at getting something out for my students to listen to but it will make a nice CD for the general public as well.

  • I’m also putting together a compilation of things from various projects that I’ve done over the years, much of the material will be things that haven’t been widely available.

  • My next two projects will be: a new “solo” project, in the family of Time Fish and Ruby. And, I’m putting together a recording of chants and prayer songs from various traditions, with original melodies and adaptations of traditional material.
